Guitar Hero

The original Guitar Hero is still one of the most popular video games in stores today. The premise of these games is simple, the video game company sells you a guitar to play the game with and as the songs play on the TV, you must follow along matching the color codes from the TV with your color coded guitar. The game is fun and it is something that takes a lot of practice.

It has become one of the most popular games of the last 4 years. The original game came out in 2005. You get a plastic guitar that looks like a mini real life looking guitar and the video game. You use the guitar as your game controller. The idea is to play the notes that appear on the screen at the same time you are seeing the notes appear. You will need fast fingers and great coordination to master the game.

You will see the colors on the guitar frets; these will match the colored notes that you see on screen. As the song is played, you will play the notes but there is a time limit. The icon keeping your time is called the Rock Meter; when the Rock Meter drops below the red line the song will stop and you will not receive any points. You will need to achieve a certain amount of points in order to advance to the next song.

If you play a string of notes correctly, you will increase your score. You have to be fast enough because you only get a few seconds to play the notes correctly. As frustrating as this sounds, it is a great game to play. The notes do not have to be played with 100% accuracy but with a degree of accuracy and a great sense of timing.

The better you get at this game the more points you get. The more points you accumulate they are placed in your Rock Meter. Once you fill the meter with enough points, which is about half way, you can hit the Select button and this will increase your points.

There are different games modes to choose from. The first is the Career Mode, in this section of the game, you and your “ band “ will travel from different arenas and you will play a series to four to six songs. This mode of play is very important, you have to complete the songs to unlock the play on the rest of the game.

You are able to choose your on screen persona, you can choose which guitar you want to use and even which venue that you want to play in. The player of the game can earn money that you can spend in the in game store. The more money you spend the better equipment you can buy or better looking clothes.

The Quick Play Mode is a faster way of playing these songs. With quick play you can actually choose the setting of the game. You can choose easy or difficult songs. Just like in the Career Mode, you can choose the hairstyles, clothes and equipment. Once you finish a song, you are given a score. The score is a percentage of exactly how many notes you hit you can receive a rating from three to five stars.

In the Cooperative Modes, it will allow two players to play the lead guitar and either the bass or the rhythm guitar. The two players will play the same song at the same time. The score is a combination score, so cooperation is key. The last mode of play is the Face Off Mode. This game play lets two players play against each other. The score you receive is an individual score, so you can play with a group of people and you can take turns playing the songs and see who gets the best score.

What makes Guitar Hero so popular is that it is interactive and the games have great soundtracks. You can choose your own equipment, your own in game persona and most of all you control how far you get in the game.
