Guitar Hero World Tour

This version of Guitar Hero was first known as Guitar Hero IV before it was changed to World Tour. The game was released in the United States in October 2008. Guitar Hero World Tour is available on PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, The Wii System and the Xbox 360. What makes these games so successful is that with each new version, game play is the same with some really great features and upgrades added. Nothing is taken away from the game, it only gets better.

World Tour is the first in the Guitar Hero Series to not only feature a lead guitar controller and a drum and microphone. The TV commercials for the World Tour are genius; they feature the Risky Business song that made Tom Cruise famous with stars like Michael Phelps, Kobe Bryant, Alex Rodriguez and Tony Hawk playing the game in the living room.

Now, instead of playing by yourself or with one other player, you can play with 3 friends. The idea of play is the same, the game will show each band member the notes they have to play and all players must work together to get combination points. If one player doesn’t do so well, you won’t get as many points. You can keep track of your points by using the Rock Meter. Just like in the previous version, once you hit half of you Rock Meter, you can press the Select button and this gives you Star Power. Star Power allows you to triple the points you have.

The Game Modes are the same but with the Career Mode, you can use any of the other instruments such as the lead or bass guitars, the drums or just the vocals. It is a great way to break up the game and really have some fun. You may do better on the vocals than you would on drums. It is a great way to advance to the next level.

Just like in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, there are Boss Challenges, you may encounter Zakk Wylde or Ted Nugent in the course of the game. These challenges are playing songs with Zakk Wylde and Ted Nugent; you must play the songs to win the battle to advance. There is also a Band Career Mode, the idea is the same but all of the band members may compete with you. You must complete each show before you can move on.

In this version of Guitar Hero you can use the Create a Rocker mode. This will let you choose the character plus the hair color, eye color and even the clothing that you want your character to use. Some of the characters you will see will be based from famous rockers such as Billy Corgan, Ozzy Osbourne, Sting and Travis Barker. You will find this section in the game’s store.

Even some of the venues will be familiar such as Ozzfest, AT&T Park and House of Blues. Guitar Hero: World Tour is a best selling game and still continues to sell. More gamers are choosing this version as the best because of the 3 new controllers, a better soundtrack and better characters.
